Thanks
for visiting my website. I'm a self-taught wood artist and
began my career as an apprenticed Cabinetmaker, working with
reproduction antique and church furnishings. This is where
I first began to appreciate the rewards of working with timber,
which led many years later, to my interest in working with
wood as an creative expression.
It wasn't until around
1990, after I moved to the hinterland town of Pomona (west
of Noosa on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland) that I discovered,
what has now become my passion in life - woodcarving and turning.
Whether it be on a turned
piece, a carving, or cabinetry, I gain an immense sense of
achievement from seeing something evolve through the various
processes ... from visualising the subject in the raw timber,
to the final sanding and polishing.
I am inspired by the diversity
of colours and textures displayed by Australia's native timbers
and wherever possible, strive to utilise the effects of their
contrasts to compliment my work. Because of my concern for
the fragile Australian environment, I do my best to use reclaimed
timber wherever possible.
My work regularly features Australian native fauna as I enjoy
the challenge of endeavouring to capture their innate essence
in each piece.
All the pieces shown on
the following pages have been sold, however if you are interested
in have a one-off piece created for you, please contact me
