Noosletter # 10

Towards The Future

Those present:  Joanne & Gary, Denise & Graeme, Denice & Bryan, Elaine, Veronica, Colin, Gil, Mick.

We met for coffee at the corner before heading for the mountain. We had scant directions, and as usual followed our noses and feelings. We crossed a large paddock and entered the tree line following a fence. At the base of the mountain, we checked for a way up, but as usual, we found none. We turned to our left and began to skirt the mountain, at first following a rough track. We came on what appeared to be an old mine. Continuing on we checked out numerous possible ways up, until finally finding another fence line. This was it. The climb was steep and in places very slippery. We were like crabs, scuttling up the grassy bits, spreadeagled and holding onto anything we could. Higher up there were scrubby trees to hold onto and we made our way up onto a rocky outcrop. Here there was a "wondjina" figure carved into the riser of a natural stone step.  We continued to the top, and as usual, shuffled around, looking at the sights, gaining our bearings, feeling the energies and chatting. We sat for lunch, and watched the eagles circling nearby, and a pesky aircraft that kept flying by.  Colin kept us entralled with tales of his experiences in the himalayas and elsewhere. We watched the "bullet train" crawl by, it's wheels squeaking on the tight curves.
Finally we decided to leave, and managed a rather perilous decent without too many problems, although the grass stains may linger as many slid down the grassy bits on their bums.  We took a roundabout way back to the cars, and headed to the "Rec Club" for coffee. Here we relaxed on the verandah and chatted.  With hugs all round, we departed, tired, elated, sore but satisfied.

Micks Musings

Why don't we ever get accurate directions?
Not a climb for the faint hearted.
Wonderful views from the top.
Peaceful energies here.
Thanks for the stories, Colin!
Mixed feelings about returning... Not necessary?
Great to watch all working as a team when climbing.
