Up a lazy river

Those present: Captain Gary, Joanne, Elaine, Dorothy, Denise, Flemming, Gil, Mick

We left the harbour in the hired pontoon boat a little after 8.00 a.m. Gary ably piloted the little craft up the river, through the lake and found the track into the bush. Along the way we watched the eagles circle, the ferry ply it's way along the cable, and the other craft cruising by.

There were sensings of a kind of "flat" energy which clogged our ears as if in an aircraft........ These lasted for maybe a hundred yards or more along the course of the river. Quite strange, as if we were passing through energy areas, or low pressure points. Not exactly what one expects to find at near sea level! More like what we get when climbing mountains........

We tied up at this unassuming spot where a track (here read bog ! ) lead into the bush. Once past the wet spots we followed a well defined, twisting track which passed through varying types of vegetation until we found what was probably the yards of an old ruined farm. Here we had a group meditation before splitting up. Joanne, Gary, Elaine, Gil and Mick headed off farther along the track to explore, while Denise, Dorothy and Flemming opted to remain at the ruins.

The track continued towards the east before dipping slightly into very flat, open wallum. Here it was very swampy, resulting in most of us getting at least one foot into the sloppy stuff. We must have looked like a bunch of fairy impersonators, tippy toeing from dry bit to dry bit, arms out for balance, leaning and bending. We came upon a very flat, open area and realised that we were at the end of the runway. We continued through the bog until we found solid ground.

This was a very long runway, at least a kilometre long.... We walked its length, read a sign about trespassers, and followed the road north. Here we found the end of the other runway and followed it to a shed and the windsock. We stopped here for a late morning tea, joined by a couple of hungry young magpies. They appeared to be tame, but I fear it was ignorance of danger or just sheer hunger that drove them to take food from our hands. I don't think that there would be enough human contact here for them to become tamed. This showed, as after a while the "older" magpie hunted the younger one off, as if warning it re humans. It was seen later feeding the younger one "beak to beak" with our offerings. The younger one did not come close again.

We took some photos and deciphered the airstrip name, laid out in tyres, before following the north-south intersecting strip to it's end. We were searching for a grid line that Joanne had calculated. When we got to the end of the strip, no one had sensed it so we decided to bush bash towards a small rise. The ground got slushy again and Gil sensed a vortex area to our right. We headed in that direction, only to stumble onto a hidden marijuana crop. Being careful of booby traps, we continued into the bush, only to find another! We gingerly carried on and found, for me, a great energy spot in a small clump of trees. Here the wind seemed cool, and the energy calming. (just what was needed as I was rather tense !) Elaine felt light headed here and had to leave. Joanne felt that we needed to penetrate further into the bush.... We went. Here the heat was oppressive, and definitely not for me, although there was a very twisted tree here. ( anti clockwise) Energy sign?

We made our way back to the strip and began the long trek back to the others. Strangely, the ground seemed drier, (it was around 30 degrees C ! ) and we all commented on how short the trip seemed. There was no one at the ruins so we continued back to the boat. With the whole group together, we had lunch and coffee and chinwagged for a while. After a short delay getting the boat "unstuck" from the bank, we made our way back to the harbour, enjoyed a relaxed coffee at the "wine bar", said our goodbyes with hugs all round, and departed.

Mick's Musings

Again, as always, great , light hearted banter. This Group has a wry sense of humour!

I love boats on slow rivers. There is a sort of serene, forced relaxation.

Weird about the ears clogging. Is there an increase in "low pressure"? I personally have been getting severe headaches before storms lately, and was also verging on the same whilst travelling through these areas.

Interesting diversity in vegetation along the tracks. Not too much change in height!

I hate boggy ground. It diverts the mind from sensing............

What a strange spot for an air strip. OK, it was an old military strip, but why so long a runway, and why in such a boggy area?

Magpies are wonderful, and today was a learning experience with the ways of nature. Oh how trusting are the young.... Until mum teaches.....

Maybe marijuana likes energy spots too......? Better growth?

Numbers? Today's date: 26..... 2+6 = 8 ...... 8 on the boat???????
Overall date: 10 2+6+1+0+1+9+9+9=37 3+7= 10......

River serene on the way back..... seemed slower... Were we tired?

Interesting shallow and narrow "sandbanks" in lake... Are these the "lines" which can be seen from the air?

Nice coffee back at the harbour, combined with great conversation.

Thanks Captain Gary !!!
